Product Description

High Tolerance 316 Stainless Steel CNC Machining Part Custom Turning

Precision Parts

Proficient in CNC machining, we produce a broad spectrum of parts, ranging from uncomplicated

"as machined" workholdings to intricate geometrical shapes. Our manufacturing units house a

comprehensive array of CNC mills and turning centers, complemented by the availability of EDM

and grinders upon request. Offering precision with tolerances as low as 0.05 mm (0.0020 in),

our turnaround times commence at just one business day.

Product Details

The primary focus of the CNC machining process revolves around metals, incorporating alloy steel,

carbon steel, cast iron, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, magnesium, and zinc.

Nevertheless, CNC machining extends its capabilities beyond metals to encompass plastic parts

and other materials, including ceramics, composites, thermoplastics, and thermosets.

Common Materials
Name Description
Aluminum High machinability and ductility, good strength-to-weight ratio.
Stainless steel High tensile strength, corrosion and temperature resistant.
Mild steel High machinability and weldability, high stiffness.
Brass Low friction, excellent electrical conductivity, golden appearance.
Copper Excellent thermal and electrical conductivity.
Titanium Excellent strength to weight ratio, used in aerospace, automotive and medical industries.
POM High stiffness, high accuracy, low friction, easy to machine.
ABS Common thermoplastic, impact resistant, easy to machine.
Nylon Excellent mechanical properties, thermal, chemical and abrasion resistant.

CNC Machining Tolerances

Typical machining tolerances fall within the range of ± 0.005 inches or 0.13 millimeters.

Tolerances represent the allowable variation for a specific dimension.

For instance, if a CNC machining tool has a tolerance of ± 0.01 millimeters, it means that the tool

can deviate by 0.01 millimeters in each cut.

When provided with a drawing, Our CNC machining service can achieve CNC parts with tolerances

as tight as ± 0.0002 inches.

In the absence of a drawing, all CNC parts are manufactured according to our ISO 2768 medium

standard. We can also work to even tighter tolerances, such as ± 0.025 millimeters or ± 0.001

inches, when an engineering drawing specifies critical features.

CNC Turning Tolerances
Limits for nominal size Plastics Metals
0.5mm* to 3mm ±0.1mm ±0.05mm
Over 3mm to 6mm ±0.1mm ±0.05mm
Over 6mm to 30mm ±0.2mm ±0.10mm
Over 30mm to 120mm ±0.3mm ±0.15mm
Over 120mm to 400mm ±0.5mm ±0.20mm
Over 400mm to 1000mm ±0.8mm ±0.30mm
Over 1000mm to 2000mm ±1.2mm ±0.50mm
Over 2000mm to 4000mm ±2.0mm
*Please clearly indicate tolerances for nominal sizes below 0.5mm on your technical drawing.

Applications of CNC Turning

CNC turning services stand at the forefront of various industries, particularly in the transportation

sector encompassing aerospace, automotive, mass transit, rail and locomotive, military,

and trucking.

These services are integral to the creation of transportation equipment, including headnuts, gear

blanks, bearing blocks, levers, axles, and rotors, utilizing the precision of CNC machines.

In the construction industry, CNC turning is employed to manufacture robust bolts and screws from

materials like stainless steel and aluminum, catering to the demanding requirements of heavy-duty

applications.

Additionally, CNC turning services contribute significantly to the automotive sector, producing

essential components such as cylinder heads, connecting rods, camshafts, shafts, rings, sway bars,

control arms, tie rod ends, bushings, and bolts.

The aviation industry, known for its exacting standards, relies on CNC turned parts for probes, joint

connectors, fasteners, and engine and aircraft components, often opting for titanium due to its

resilience in extreme temperature conditions.

FAQ's

1. How long does a quotation take?

Under normal circumstances, we endeavor to respond to Requests for Quotation (RFQ) within a

couple of days from the time of submission. Should there be any unforeseen delays in the quotation

process, we commit to informing you as soon as possible.

2. How do I know my design will be kept confidential?

We prioritize the confidentiality of your design. Our commitment to this is solidified through the

signing and adherence to any non-disclosure or confidentiality agreement. Moreover, our factory

strictly enforces a policy that prohibits the capture of photographs of a customer's product without

explicit permission.

Our longstanding reputation is based on years of handling a diverse range of unique designs,

with an unwavering commitment to preventing the disclosure of proprietary information to any

third party.

3. What tolerances can achieve?

Tolerance specifications are not one-size-fits-all and are influenced by factors like part size, design

geometry, the number and size of features, material properties, surface finish, and the manufacturing

process. Upon order confirmation, a Design for Manufacturing review is conducted to pinpoint areas

for potential modification to enhance manufacturability.

Clearly indicating critical tolerance areas in your design is beneficial, allowing for adjustments to

streamline production time and costs. General tolerance guidelines are available for CNC machining

in metal and plastic, plastic injection molding, CNC metals and plastic injection molding materials,

metal 3D printing (+/- 0.5mm), and an expected shrinkage rate of +/- 0.15% for vacuum casting.

It is imperative to specify all manufacturing and technical requirements clearly in the 2D drawings for

accurate adherence.
